GAI Engineers is a forensic engineering firm specializing in origin and cause investigation, failure analysis, accident reconstruction, and other technical support for insurance companies, law firms, manufacturers, fire investigation companies and private parties. Since our founding in 1934, GAI has investigated and resolved thousands of cases involving property loss, premise liability, personal injury, and product liability.

Andrew J. Williams, P.E.

President and Principal Associate

Mr. Williams’ education includes a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. After graduating from WPI, Mr. Williams worked in the medical device industry as a manufacturing engineer. In this role, he was responsible for improving existing designs and processes, as well as introducing new products into manufacturing, for electronic equipment and plastic disposables.

 In 1999, Mr. Williams joined GAI. Since that time, he has investigated thousands of losses, both electrical and mechanical in nature. Mr. Williams has provided expert testimony in both state and federal court, as well as at hearings. He is a member of ASME, IAAI, IEEE, NAFI, NFPA and NSPE, and UL Standard Technical Panels. Mr. Williams is also a Certified Evidence Collection Technician, Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator, Licensed Private Detective and a Registered Professional Engineer.

ANDREW D. EllISON, P.E.

SENIOR ASSOCIATE

Mr. Ellison’s education includes a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Master of Science in Fire Protection Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. After graduating from WPI, Mr. Ellison worked in various fire protection engineering positions, including a military research and development firm and forensic investigation firms.  Mr. Ellison joined GAI in 2019.  He has investigated hundreds of losses, both fire protection and mechanical in nature. He is a member of IAAI, NAFI, NFPA, NSPE and SFPE, as well as NFPA Technical Committees and UL Standard Technical Panels. Mr. Ellison is also a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator and a Registered Professional Engineer.

Matthew M. Elliott

Senior Associate

Mr. Elliott’s education includes a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. After his education, Mr. Elliott worked in various electrical engineering positions, including an electric utility company and a fire investigation firm. Mr. Elliott joined GAI in 2007. Since that time, he has investigated over a thousand losses of an electrical nature. He is a member of IAAI, IEEE, NAFI, and NFPA. Mr. Elliott is also a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator.
